Biography
Trumpet Soloist, Clinician, and Educator
Dr. Erika Izaguirre leads an active career as a solo performer, teacher, and clinician. As an international soloist, Dr. Izaguirre maintains a dynamic schedule recently coming off of a tour performing throughout Spain. She has also commissioned and premiered works in Minnesota, New York, Panama, and Italy by composers Dr. Daniel F. Breedon, John Wallace, Sean William Calhoun, and Jorge Bennett.
As a chamber musician, Dr. Izaguirre is a member of the Chromatic Brass Collective, Trompettes Soniques, and a founding member of Uff Da Brass Quintet. She has performed at the Fringe Festival and has recorded for the Blue on Blue Recording Studio and for Blue Lake Public Radio. Additionally, Erika has soloed with Greece Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, Symphoria, and Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.
Currently Dr. Izaguirre is the Instructor of Trumpet at Concordia College and Director of the Jazz Ensemble. Erika earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Eastman School of Music. Her primary teachers have included James Thompson, Wiff Rudd, Ray Sasaki, Boyde Hood, and Tom Stevens.
Erika is focused on helping young musicians from underrepresented communities by elevating their voices and helping them obtain the resources (education, equipment, and mentorship) they need in hopes of seeing more black, indigenous, people of color, lgbtqia+, and female identifying brass players in the professional world in the near future. In her spare time, she enjoys a good comic book, outdoor adventures, and experimenting with Mexican recipes.

One-on-one virtual lessons to address the student’s musical and technical needs. Students will learn how to get the most out of resources such as Arban, Clarke, Irons, etc in addition to working on repertoire that helps them achieve their goals in music and in life.

The Building Blocks
Group classes that are focused on repertoire and the finer nuances of performing. Topic specific classes may be requested (ex: Buzzing Book, Mexican music, etc.)

Beyond The Basics
Erika can record trumpet lines and full parts in a variety of styles including: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Latin, etc. Fees vary depending on your needs.
